Locations

One big Oak like the many being killed at this site, emits over 150 gallons of water each day. Filtering our air while providing us with the oxygen we need to survive.

Here are some locations that need your urgent help!

Reach out to your town officials. In New Providence, visit citizen action line to see how you can report your concerns. Feel free to keep us updated at @defendourtreesNJ or defendourtreesNJ@gmail.com.

Trees I tried to save.

  • Corner of Springfield and Maple Street, New Providence. The trees Old at this site have already been removed. I reported these trees long before they were destroyed, but nothing was done.
  • Corner of Oakwood and South Street – several OLD dying trees, one of them is a town tree. The removal or restoration of this 100+ year old tulip that has been affected by construction will be paid for with our tax money. The remaining  large oaks along the rear will be a loss for all of us and the character of our town.  Three trees have already been removed since I reported theses trees being damaged.   5 huge OLD oaks in decline  may be able to be saved.
  • Dozens of OLD trees were destroyed at 25 and 29 Oakwood Drive. At the start of this project I reported the violations and gave pictures of destruction to Town Administrator Doug Marvin, who can recite ordinance 2011-1, he did nothing.  At least six of the trees were town trees, thus we paid for our towns losses. Note: On the April 11th video you will hear my attempt to save these trees.
  • Union Ave. condos. Over a dozen trees have already been removed here, with many more in decline. A 150 + year old Sycamore tree, a TOWN TREE, was just removed due to damage.
  • South Street and Marion Ave. The last remaining trees were just removed at this site.  Dozens of trees were needlessly killed. Interestingly, it is claimed that this is one of the “greenest buildings in the county,” but how can that be when every tree on the property was needlessly killed to put this building up?
  • South Street. A huge Elm tree was killed during construction and witnessed being taken down by town crews – our tax money.

AS OF OCTOBER 2020 These are some of the many trees recently destroyed. (all locations in New Providence, NJ): Please see defendourtreesNJ on instagram

  • Livingston Ave. two 200+ year old trees in decline, damaged during construction.
  • Huge Old OAK killed after recent construction on corner of Vista Lane two more town trees in decline.

  • Church on South Street and Oakwood – 150 to 250 -year-old trees in decline, 3 have died already.
  • Oakwood Park – 3 huge Oak trees just removed after clay soil was dumped and compacted over their roots.
  • Vista lane a 250 to 300 year old tree in decline that may be able to be saved
